Parkes ruled out of WSB opener
Broc Parkes will miss the opening round of the World Superbike Championship after breaking his right tibia in a training accident.
The Echo CRS Honda rider has been ruled out of action for around six weeks with the injury, ruling him out of the opening round of the season at Phillip Island next weekend and making him doubtful for the second round of the season in Portugal on March 28.
The team is reportedly seeking a replacement rider for the season opener but team manager Sandro Di Stefano was philosophical about the loss of the former Kawasaki man.
“I wish Broc all the best for an early recovery; we are waiting anxiously for his return,” he said. “Now he has to concentrate on getting back into the best condition as soon as possible.
“This is a false start for us and it complicates our debut. Superbike is a difficult category, where every minor detail must be taken care of. Things like this confirm how much the human factor is one of the elements that can occasionally slip out of control”.
