Pedrosa casts doubt on Assen return
Dani Pedrosa has cast doubt on a return to action at Assen next weekend, with the Spaniard still suffering from a broken collarbone.
The Repsol Honda rider was injured in a crash at Le Mans five weeks ago and, after undergoing surgery, has already missed the rounds at Barcelona and Silverstone.
Pedrosa was expected to race at Silverstone, before announcing in the lead-up week that he would sit out the British Grand Prix, and now the Spaniard has cast doubts on an appearance at the Dutch TT on Saturday week at Assen, representing a six week lay-off.
Reports circulating in the Spanish press last week had suggested that Pedrosa has aggravated the injury in a training accident, claims that were vehemently denied by his representatives, although questions have been raised over the 25-year-olds absence, especially given Colin Edwards’ recovery from a similar injury.
“I am continuing my recovery process and following all of the advice given by the doctors’, so that the recovery will continue smoothly,” he wrote in a blog post for Repsol.
“I would like to know whether I will be able to compete at Assen, but it is something that I do not know yet. The recovery is going a bit slower than what was originally expected and I am taking things day-by-day. There is still a week to go and I am not aware of how I will feel in the next few days.
“I am feeling a bit down because I very much want to recover in order to go back to racing, but the healing of the injury is out of my control. I am putting everything into my recovery and I am following all of the medical advice. I will be able to tell you more next week.”
