Pedrosa cleared for Barcelona

Dani Pedrosa has received the green light from doctors to take part in this weekend’s Catalunya Grand Prix.

The Spaniard has been cleared to race in Barcelona following his crash in Mugello two weeks ago after scans revealed that his injury was not as serious as first feared.

The Honda rider crashed out at the Savelli corner after 12 laps of the Italian Grand Prix and immediately began to hold his troublesome right hip, prompting fears over a prolonged injury absence but subsequent scans revealed just a minor fracture to his right femur.

Pedrosa will race as expected in Barcelona, where he won last year, but is likely to be riding with a series of pain-killing injections.

Speaking on the announcement, Pedrosa told MotoGP.com; “I didn’t want to miss this important date for anything in the world.”

“On the one hand I wanted to ride because missing this race would mean losing too much ground in the standings, and also because I wanted to race in front of my fans, friends and family.”
