Pedrosa fully recovered and aiming for the podium at Aragon
Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has said that he is confident of replicating last year’s victory this weekend in the MotoGP championship round at Spanish circuit, Aragon.
Pedrosa, who is currently recovering from injuries sustained in Le Mans, is returning to the MotoGP fray after a two-week rest. Although the Respol Honda rider is out of the running for the 2011 title race, he’s still optimistic that he can fight back and is aiming for a podium finish.
The rider, who is currently in fourth place, said: “I have very good memories of the Grand Prix of Aragon, last year we started well and we had a good race. I’m satisfied with our performance in the past few weeks and I feel better every day.”
“I’m satisfied with our performance over the past few weeks and I feel better every day. This week I’ve been able to rest and recover some energy and now I’m really looking forward to this race.”
The Spanish rider is excited to be returning to his home ground, where he is guaranteed to have a warm welcome home. Pedrosa has had previous success at the Aragon track, having ridden well there last year, bagging himself the second spot on the podium. He set the fastest lap in the race with 1’49.521
He added: “People from all around Spain attend the Aragón GP and the atmosphere there is incredible. The circuit is spectacular and very technical; it combines fast and slow corners, some of them complicated and blind where you need to find points of reference outside the track.
“We need to set up the bike very well for this track and make the most of all the practice sessions. The data we have from last year can help us with that and it will be important to start in a good direction, but we cannot relax.
“I’m excited to see the Spanish fans again, after missing the Catalunya race, and I hope the home support will give me an extra boost so that we can enjoy this race together.”
