Pedrosa goes under knife for collarbone break

Dani Pedrosa remains a major doubt for the Catalunya Grand Prix after undergoing surgery on his broken collarbone in Spain.

Pedrosa went under the knife yesterday at the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona, where he was also operated on earlier this year following his injury to the left collarbone, after sustaining the injury in Sunday’s French Grand Prix.

Surgeons inserted a titanium plate to fix the fracture in the right collarbone but the Repsol Honda rider now faces a race against time if he is to recover in time to be fit to race in Barcelona on June 5.

Pedrosa will be released from hospital after medical checks and will begin passive rehabilitation next week.
