Pitt optimistic over WSB opportunity
Andrew Pitt is hoping to get his World Superbike career back on track after signing with the newly-formed Reitwagen BMW for 2010.
Pitt has not raced in World Superbikes for four years, despite having 47 WSB starts to his name, including two years as Yamaha factory rider but a number of indifferent performances and team collapses have seen the Australian move from WSB to have brief stints in MotoGP with the IImor team and World Supersport.
Pitt signed with Ten Kate for the 2008 WSS season and took the championship that year but was unable to successfully defend his title, finishing sixth in the championship and losing his ride at Ten Kate.
But the 33-year-old is confident that he can make the most of his latest chance, which will see him riding the first ever BMW satellite motorcycle in WSB.
“After four years I’m very happy to be back in World Superbike and excited about riding for such a dedicated and passionate team,” he said. “The team also includes plenty of very experienced operators and BMW are obviously serious about the World Superbike program, so I think this is going to be a great thing.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of a new bike,” he added. “I’ve been working hard on my fitness and I’m more motivated than ever to have a successful two-years.”
