Quotes of the day – Saturday

Winner, Leon Camier: “It’s just a dream year, everything’s going to plan. It’s a good start to the weekend with it being a triple header. I’m absolutely over the moon with that; it’s my home race, with it only being half an hour down the road for me. It was hard, initially because it’s so hot, everything’s sliding around so much and it makes it difficult to be consistent. Airwaves Yamaha have worked absolutely awesome over the weekend, we had a few problems on the Friday and didn’t get to do many laps; we just managed to pull it out of the bag in qualifying and the race so, perfect.”

Second Place, Broc Parkes: “It’s awesome, this is my first BSB and we qualified second, had a second in the first race. This year’s been a little bit tough with the results, they haven’t quite been what we’ve wanted. It feels good to fight for a win again. We’ve got two more tomorrow, Leon’s really strong at the moment, he’s riding a big wave. I felt good at the start of the race but just ran out of grip at the end, so tomorrow we’ll try to work a little bit on the grip and come back and fight again.”

Third Place, Stuart Easton: “I was counting the laps away at the end; I was pleased to see my pit-board was going up – 2.4 seconds and up to three and four second son the last lap, so it was nice to see that and it took the pressure off, and that was it really, settle for a podium. It was difficult to come from the third row of the grid; we had a bit of a hiccough in qualifying, in the final part, so I came through from the third row, I had to pass a few people, which was good for me in a way really to show that I can get stuck in like that. I got a good start, got stuck in and I got a podium.”

Privateer Winner, Gary Mason: “We had a really good start and I thought that I could run with them at the beginning, but then we seemed to have an issue with the front tyre, something seems to have happened to it; it was just folding everywhere, but I just kept thinking I’ve got to bring this home. It was quite scary to keep my lap time and I could see everyone catching, it was very frustrating, but fair play to all the team, we’re all here again and just got to keep going. Another twenty-five points and I think Peter didn’t get on the podium, so that helps me in the championship.”
