RdP refusing to rule out WSB switch
Randy de Puniet has claimed that he could be tempted to World Superbikes if he was offered the right package, but he has categorically ruled out a move to Moto2 or one of the new CRT MotoGP bikes.
De Puniet’s future with the Pramac Ducati team is thought to be under threat at the end of the season after a series of disappointing results since his move from LCR Honda last season.
The Frenchman has been linked with a number of teams, including a return back to LCR Honda and a ride at Tech 3 Yamaha, although speculation has also linked him with a switch to World Superbikes with Kawasaki.
LCR Honda has also been linked with a move for Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso and Moto2 championship leader Stefan Bradl, leaving de Puniet considering his options in WSB.
“There is a place at LCR if it does not happen with Dovizioso and Bradl, a place for Tech 3 if Colin (Edwards) leaves, and then there is Pramac and maybe Gresini,” de Puniet told his personal blog.
“So it’s either one of these options, and then Superbike if we can find a competitive bike. If I go to SBK, it is to be in front, not to be eighth or ninth.
“Otherwise, it will be home waiting to be called as a replacement. What is crystal clear is that will not ride a CRT bike or in Moto2.”
