Rossi claims Stoner & Lorenzo “hate” him

Valentino Rossi has stoked the fires ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix by claiming that Casey Stoner “hates” him and claimed that both he and new World Champion Jorge Lorenzo are like “circling vultures”.

In a sensational interview with Italy’s GQ magazine, Rossi has claimed that claims from both riders that they admired him were “all lies” and that the trio were close to wanting to kill each other.

The comments come after both Stoner and Lorenzo criticised Rossi following the Japanese Grand Prix, which saw a physical tussle between the former champion and his current teammate Lorenzo. The pair have also warned Rossi that any rash moves at Phillip Island this weekend would backfire.

But Rossi, who will take Stoner’s seat at Ducati next season, with the Aussie moving to Honda, has hit back at the pair, claiming that it was “normal” for rivals in motorsport to hate each other.

“When you’re injured and are losing blood, those who are younger feel stronger and more able to devour you,” Rossi told the magazine.”It’s like a jungle, but I like it, it’s fine like that.

“They say: Ah! Valentino! He’s been my hero since I was a kid. But that’s not the truth, it’s all lies.

“I’m an obstacle, a rival, as (Max) Biaggi was for me. Let them say what they want, it only gives me pleasure.

“When two people are fighting for the same goal it’s normal they hate each another.

“Whoever denies this is lying. I’m not saying we want to kill each other, but it is close.”
