Rossi delighted to be back on track
Valentino Rossi insisted that he had been itching to get back onto the MotoGP grid this weekend, claiming that he missed his bike during his six week lay-off with a broken shin.
Rossi passed an FIM medical yesterday, clearing him to race this weekend at Sachsenring and the defending world champion admitted that he was eager to get back into action, despite experts initially predicting a much longer lay-off.
“I missed MotoGP a lot, especially my bike and my whole team,” he told a press conference in Germany.
“Now I feel quite good after this bad injury. Everything after the crash went okay with the surgery, the doctors did a great job, and I worked every day to regain my fitness as soon as possible. I worked on my leg and my shoulder. It was difficult period but I feel quite good and I’m very happy to be able to try the bike tomorrow.”
After a testing session earlier this week in Brno, Rossi questioned his ability to last the race distance and that concern was raised again yesterday, although the MotoGP veteran was happy to address that particular problem himself.
“The big question mark is the entire race, 30 laps in a row,” he added. “I have to wait and see what happens!”
