Rossi gets green light for Ducati test

Valentino Rossi will be allowed to test for Ducati at the end of the season after agreeing a release from his contract with Yamaha.

Rossi, who will join Ducati for the 2011 season, could have been prevented from testing with his new team at the traditional post-season test in Valencia, due to his contract with Yamaha not expiring until after the Valencia test.

With Rossi due to undergo surgery in the off season to correct a long-term shoulder problem, further doubts were cast over whether Rossi would take part in the test in Valencia but now it seems as if Yamaha have relented in the ongoing dispute.

“Last night I spoke with Furusawa,” Rossi told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, “and he said that I can test the Ducati after the Valencia GP.

“I think that it’s the right choice after everything there has been between us and a way to thank me for my work and commitment. I would like to thank them; it’s a nice sportsmanlike gesture, also because with the limits on testing it’s not as if you decide when you can do the tests.”
