Rossi grateful for summer break
Valentino Rossi has admitted that he has been grateful for the MotoGP summer break as he continues his miraculous comeback from injury.
After the world champion broke his leg at Mugello back in June, some medical experts had initially predicted that Rossi would have been fortunate to make his comeback this weekend at Brno. But the 31 year-old stunned the paddock by making hi9s comeback just three rounds later in Germany, claiming a fourth place finish before hobbling up to the podium on crutches at Laguna Seca three weeks ago.
And the Fiat Yamaha rider, who is expected to announce a move to Ducati in the next week, admitted that the break came at the right time for him as he looks to regain full fitness.
“I’ve had a good break and it’s helped me a lot to have this time to work on my physical condition,” claimed Rossi. “I’m feeling good about my leg and my shoulder and I hope that this weekend I’ll be feeling much stronger.
“Brno is a great track for me and it’s always special because it’s the first place I ever won at. Last year I had a great race, this year will be harder because I’m not completely fit yet but I am looking forward to getting back on the bike. We have half the season still to go and our aim is to have a good second half!”
