Rossi “must” race in F1 according to Ferrari boss
Ferrari F1 president Luca Montezemolo has claimed that Valentino “must” win the Formula One world championship, claiming that Ferrari is still committed to running three cars in 2011 should regulations be changes for next season.
Montezemolo told reporters that Rossi should have “done enough” in MotoGP “when” he win’s his tenth MotoGP championship this year, claiming that a third Ferrari seat is all but his should the FIA approve three-car teams in F1 from 2011.
“We want a third car and I would do everything to have Valentino. When he wins this year’s MotoGP, enough is enough, he must also win in Formula One,” he told reporters.
Speculation has persistently surrounded Rossi and a move to F1, with the Italian testing for Ferrari on a number of occasions in the past, most recently in Barcelona this winter, but the Yamaha rider has tried to distance himself from a move in recent months, hinting that age is against him making the move.
Montezemolo also denied there was tension between drivers Alonso and Massa after an inconsistent start to the season, saying: “They know they race for Ferrari and not for themselves.”
