Rossi plans another Ferrari F1 test

Valentino Rossi could be back in a Formula One car again this winter after reportedly being given the green light to test for Ferrari in the off season.

Rossi, who has long been surrounded by speculation over moves to F1, has been given permission to test the new Ferrari F1 car in the off season according to Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The paper reported that the MotoGP World Champion has asked Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali for a test in the winter.

“I have already asked Domenicali via text if I can have another test,” Rossi stated.

La Gazzetta reports that Ferrari’s answer was ‘yes’, and that the test will take place in January. No venue has been confirmed although previous tests have taken place at Mugello, a circuit that Rossi is more than familiar with.

The test will be Rossi’s third time in a Ferrari F1 car after testing at Mugello last year and although the sight of him in the Ferrari cockpit will no doubt fuel speculation once again in the F1 press, Rossi has previously gone on record to claim that a permanent switch is not on the cards when his Yamaha contract expires in 2010.
