Rossi regrets F1 snub

Valentino Rossi has claimed that not switching to Formula One is his “only regret” in a glittering motorsport career.

Speaking in a television interview, Rossi revealed that at the age of 30, turning down a place with the Ferrari Formula One team was his only regret in a career that had yielded eight MotoGP World Championships.

Rossi has always flirted with the idea of a switch from two wheels to four, having tested several times for Ferrari in the past and was reportedly offered the opportunity to partner Michael Schumacher back in 2006 but instead opted to re-sign with Yamaha in MotoGP.

According to the ANSA news agency, when asked in a television interview to reveal his biggest regret, Rossi said he has only one: “Not to have switched to formula one and raced with Ferrari.

“But now I’m 30 and I made my choice then. And while Ferrari is still in my heart, I don’t think I’ll ever race one.”

Rossi has also made no secret of his interest in rally driving in the past, prompting speculation over a switch to the World Rally Championship, having previously entered as a wildcard in the 2002 and 2008 Rally GB and 2006 Rally New Zealand.
