Rossi tests Ferrari in Barcelona
Valentino Rossi has been sat behind the wheel of a Ferrari F1 car this afternoon as he takes part in yet another test for the team in Barcelona.
Rossi has completed his sixth drive of the Ferrari F1 entrant in what is becoming something of traditional pre-season appearance and one that does little to silence the speculation of a potential move to F1 in the future.
Rossi had to content with a mechanical issue earlier in the day but, in weather conditions that weren’t conducive to quick lap times, posted a quickest time of 1:42.1 on the first day. Rossi will test the Ferrari again on Thursday.
Whilst largely a PR exercise for Ferrari, the test still continues to create talk of Rossi making a full-time move to F1 and with Ferrari now reportedly pushing for a change in F1 regulations that would allow teams to enter three cars, either for the entire championship or on a wildcard basis, talk of Rossi making the switch has intensified.
“For us, the third machine would represent a good move for F1. Especially if a driver like Valentino would be interested,” said Team Principal Stefano Domenicali.
