Rutter and NW200 part company

British Superbike favourite Michael Rutter has left the NW200 Coca Cola Yamaha team, it has been announced.

The popular rider has “mutually parted company” with the team after just two rounds of the new British Superbike season after a disappointing start to the championship.

The 35-year-old, who finished sixth in the championship last season with NW200 Ducati, has failed to pick up a point in the opening four races of the season, with a 16th position at Brands Hatch the best result so far.

A statement released by the team read: “The NW200 Coca-Cola Yamaha team and Michael Rutter have agreed mutually to part company, both parties accepted they have struggled to get the best out of each other and feel it would be every ones best interest to part on good terms.

“The NW200 Coca-Cola commitment is with the Rob Mac Racing company and the brand will be promoted by Dan Linfoot in the Supersport category, a further announcement will be made with reference to a replacement for Michael.

“The team and all of the partners wish Michael the very best for the future.”
