Rutter claims Macau pole

Michael Rutter will start on pole for the 44th Macau Grand Prix on Saturday, as the British riders dominated proceedings.

The British Superbike veteran posted a best time of 2:23.714 on the second day of combined qualifying, making him 0.084 seconds quicker compatriot Stuart Easton.

John McGuinness completed the top three, 2.241 off the pace as the top two ran away with the lead at the Asian road circuit.

Overall, British riders made up eight of the top nine positions, with American Jeremy Toye posting the fourth fastest time of the session. Simon Andrews, Gary Johnson, James Hillier, James Storrar, Keith Amor and Portugal’s Luis Carreira completed the top ten.
