Scot Honda pull out of MotoGP
Scot Honda has announced that they will be pulling out of MotoGP for 2010 instead choosing to focus on the Moto2 class.
Scot Honda, who won the 250cc championship with Hiroshi Aoyama in 2009, blamed a delay in sourcing a new Honda RC212V for the decision, although it was widely reported midway through last season that the team were struggling with financial problems. A statement from the team released at the announcement also suggested that poor results in the MotoGP class were also a factor.
“After the happiness for the conquest of the world championship in the 250cc class for me and for the whole team this is a great disappointment, that no reward for all the work done over the years,” said team manager Cirano Mularoni.
“Now we just have to concentrate on the project Moto2.”
The lack of a motorcycle from Honda meant that the Scot Honda team were unable to test in Valencia earlier this week.
Scot’s decision means next year’s MotoGP grid will contain just 17 bikes whilst Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi is now without a ride for 2010.
