Silverstone GP moved to avoid TT clash

The Silverstone MotoGP has been pushed back by two weeks to June 20 in a raft of changes to the 2010 MotoGP calendar.

The British Grand Prix, due to take place at Silverstone for the first time since 1986, was initially scheduled to take place on June 6 2010 – a date that clashes with the Isle of Man TT event.

A number of other events have also been moved as Dorna looks to avoid complex with other major sporting events, most notably Formula One and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa – events that will be competing with television airtime with MotoGP.

The round in Mugello will now take place on the 6 June whilst rounds in France, Czech Republic and San Marino have also been affected.

The French Grand Prix will take place at Le Mans on May 23 – one week later than originally scheduled. The Czech Grand Prix in Brno has also been pushed back by one week to August 22 whilst the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano has been brought forward by a week to September 5.
