SMT fear over financial future
SMT Honda is facing a financial crisis that could keep them out of the forthcoming British Superbikes round at Mallory Park.
Team manager Robin Croft says that the team is in desperate need of a main sponsor to fund the remainder of the season, starting with the next round of the championship at Mallory Park next weekend.
The team, which runs a single rider operation with former Australian Supersport Champion Jason O’Halloran, has earned a number of strong results so far this season with four top ten but sponsorship has been difficult to come by due to the current economic downturn and Croft has admitted that the team is desperate for funding.
“As I stand here now though, this could well be our last meeting of the year as we’re desperate to find a main sponsor that will see us through the second half of the season. In my heart of hearts I want to be at the next round at Mallory but I don’t want to get in to a position of debt to be there so if anyone can help us financially, in whatever shape or form please contact me.
“As a team, we know what we’re capable of achieving and we’re desperate to keep our season going so, hopefully, we’ll get the finance we need.”
