Stategy is vital according to Pedrosa
World championship leader Dani Pedrosa believes that strategy will be crucial at this weekend’s German Grand Prix is he is to repeat his 2007 success.
The Spaniard, who moved to the top of the championship two weeks ago with a second-place finish in Assen, is widely expected to earn a second successive victory at the complex Sachsenring this weekend – a circuit which is seen to suit the Honda rider more so than Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi and Ducati’s Casey Stoner.
Pedrosa, who takes a four point lead into this weekend’s race, has impressed on this season’s Honda RC212V which has not been equipped with the high-powered engines found on other factory machines but the 22 year-old believes that tactics and riding style will be the deciding factor in Germany on Sunday.
“We’re working very hard trying to improve our performance and we’ll do our best to repeat my 2007 win, but we know it won’t be easy,” said Pedrosa.
“Sachsenring is quite a slow track and set-up is always difficult because it’s a long race and you need a harder compound on the left side of the tyres. You need to use quite a static style, riding more gently and making fewer movements than usual on the bike.
“There’s always a good atmosphere at this race, too, with a lot of fans and overflowing grandstands.”
