Stoner denies Honda distraction

Casey Stoner has dismissed suggestions that he is being distracted by his upcoming switch to Honda, claiming that he is committed to Ducati for the rest of the season.

Stoner has struggled to make an impression this season claiming just five podium finishes this season and a best finish of second place at Laguna Seca in July, leading critics to suggest that the Australian’s mind is already looking to 2011.

Stoner will ride for Repsol Honda next season after agreeing a switch from Ducati but the 2007 has rubbished the notion that he is not committed to Ducati.

“I’m still working for Ducati and I’m still riding my butt off and I will continue to do the best job I can for them,” said Australian Stoner ahead of this weekend’s round in Misano, Italy.

“I’ve got a new challenge next year but that’s in the future and Ducati have done a fanatic job for many years now.

“I’m still giving them 100 per cent and that’s all I can ask of myself and that’s all they can ask of me.”

Explaining his poor form, Stoner has claimed that he is simply being outpaced by other machinery.

“Personally I think I’m riding as good as I’ve ridden. I’m as fit and strong as I’ve ever been and everybody in the Ducati team is working hard to get results,” he said.

“The championship is out of the question, I’ve just got to get some results,” Stoner said. I’m just going to take it race by race and try and see where I end up.”
