Stoner looking forward to strong start
Casey Stoner is hoping for the perfect start to his Repsol Honda career at Losail this weekend as he looks to carry his blistering pre-season form into the season opener.
Stoner will make his debut on the factory Honda this weekend following his move to Ducati and goes into the race as the clear favourite with the bookies, as well as for the championship outright, after showing consistently strong pace throughout the pre-season tests.
Add into the equation Stoner’s superb record in Qatar, aside from last year’s crash, which has seen him win races in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and the Australian is looking for a positive start to the campaign in 2011.
“After a strong winter testing period, I’m very happy with the set-up we have found on the bike and I go into this race weekend looking for a good result,” said Stoner.
“When the flag drops, we will see the true pace of all our competitors and know where we stand and I can’t wait.
“Usually, I feel comfortable here at the Losail circuit and I hope that this year – my first with the Repsol Honda Team, we can achieve a good result”.
