Stoner looking to make amends at Phillip Island
Casey Stoner has claimed that he plans to make up for the disappointment of Sepang last week to put on a show for his home fans in Australia.
Stoner, chasing a hat-trick of race victories in Malaysia on Sunday, crashed out of the opening lap of the race to record his fourth DNF of the season.
The result was a huge disappointment for the 24-year-old, who looked to have regained some form with race wins in Aragon and Japan in the previous two rounds of the championship.
And Stoner wants to put that behind him this week at Philip Island, a circuit that he has won at for the past three consecutive years.
“I’m looking forward to going back to Phillip Island- we have had decent results there for the past three years and with the way the bike is working now we can expect to be competitive,” he claimed.
“After last weekend in Malaysia we go there feeling a little disappointed but we will do our best to improve our situation and hopefully fight for another victory. I am sure it will be a close race there. It is one of my favourite circuits but that’s the same for a lot of riders and as always I imagine it will be a fun race to watch.”
