Toseland taken to hospital as precaution

James Toseland was taken to hospital in Italy for scans on a “light concussion” following his accident in Monza on Sunday.

After claiming a second place finish in the first race, Toseland was caught up in a mid-field crash at the start of race two, which also ended the races of Ruben Xaus and Jonathan Rea.

Complaining of neck pain, Toseland was taken to the medical centre as a precaution, where he was examined for concussion. He was later been taken to hospital where Yamaha team manager Massimo Meregalli confirmed that he was undergoing CT scans.

“Following James’s crash and concussion he was taken to hospital for scans as he complained of a pain in his neck. The first scan revealed no injuries, we are waiting for a second for confirmation.”

Ten Kate rider Rea suffered from a sprained ankle in the incident, capping a miserable day for the Northern Irish rider who also crashed out of race one.
