TT winner Plater retires from road racing
Former Isle of Man TT winner Steve Plater has announced his retirement from road racing.
Plater, winner of the 2008 Supersport TT and the 2009 Senior TT, has decided to end his road racing career to take up a managerial role with the Honda Legends team, based in Louth. The 38-year-old will also compete in next year’s World Endurance Championships.
In May this year, Plater broke his arm and suffered a fractured neck after crashing during practice for the North West 200.
“Obviously it is a very hard decision as I am very passionate about racing on the Isle of man and the North West 200,” Plater told BBC Lincolnshire.
He added: “I am a very competitive person and I wouldn’t want to drop down the result sheets and then decide to stop racing on the road circuits.”
