Vermeulen set to return to action at Donington
Chris Vermeulen has hinted at a return to action for this month’s WSB round at Donington next weekend, claiming that he is close to full fitness.
The Kawasaki rider, who had endured a nightmare time with injuries following his move from MotoGP after an accident at Phillip Island 12 months ago, missed the opening round of the season and much of pre-season testing as he continued his recovery from a knee operation.
But the former Rizla Suzuki man has suggested that he will take to the grid at Donington Park, 250 days since his last race, for the European round of the championship.
“I had my heart set on racing at Phillip Island in front of a big home crowd and all of my friends and family,” he wrote on his blog for Motocycling Australia.
“Unfortunately my knee wasn’t quite right, but to know that I will be closer to 100 per cent fit for the round at Donington gives me great confidence, so when I get back on my Kawasaki I will be competitive from the first lap.”
