World Champion already looking to 2010
World champion Valentino Rossi is already casting one eye on 2010 as he prepares to kick-start the end of season party at Valencia.
The Italian wrapped up the championship with a third place finish at Sepang two weeks ago, defeating Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo in the process, to secure his ninth career title.
And the 30-year-old claims that he is heading to Valencia to enjoy himself and add to the fantastic memories that he holds at the traditional closing round of the MotoGP season.
“I am very happy to be going to the final race with the championship won and the pressure off, now we can just enjoy ourselves,” he claimed. “It’s been a fantastic year and now we just have one more weekend before we start work for 2010. Valencia hasn’t been a great track for me in the past and I’ve had some bad times there, but at the moment we’re in great shape and our bike is working well everywhere we go, so I hope it will be the same at Valencia.”
The Yamaha man also admitted however that when the chequered flag falls on Sunday, the work starts all over again as he stays to put the 2010 Yamaha M1 through its paces.
“It’s a great place to finish and the atmosphere is amazing, so we will just do our best and hope for another good race to end off a great season,” he added. “On Monday we will start working on the new M1 and I’m very excited to try it!”
