WSB Cancels Indonesian Leg
The Indonesian leg of the 2008 World Superbikes season has been cancelled, reducing the series to 14 races.
The race, originally scheduled for October 12, will now not take place with the race calendar reduced to 14 rounds. No other races will be rearranged because of the cancellation, which will create an extended break between the French and Portuguese rounds.
The reason of the cancellation has not been made public, although there have been doubts over the events future after concerns were raised over the safety of the circuit in Sentul.
FIM officials did however visit the circuit following the WSB event in Qatar and passed the venue as safe, seemingly giving the track the green light to host the penultimate round of the WSB season.
It is now thought that a lack of funding may be behind the cancellation after the Indonesian government withdrew its financial support for the event.
