WSB tweak Superpole format
The Superpole qualifying format for World Superbike and World Supersport has been amended as part of a series of rule tweaks for the 2010 championship.
The changes, which will come in to force with the agreement of the FIM, the competing teams and the WSB promoter Infront Motor Sports, take the form of relatively minor changes to the qualifying and practice formats, largely to suit television requests.
In what is undoubtedly the biggest of a number of minor changes, Superpole sessions will be split into three stages of 14 minutes, twelve minutes and ten minutes respectively, with a seven minute gap between each session remaining.
The time between final practice on the Saturday of a race weekend and Superpole has been extended to 25 minutes.
In other changes, an extra qualifying session will be added on Friday afternoon for Supersport runners while the race on Sunday has been moved forward by 5 minutes at the request of TV stations.
Superstock 1000 will feature a qualifying session on Friday afternoon at the request of the teams, while the Superstock 600 race has been moved to Saturday afternoon. Two qualifying sessions and one free practice session will take place each weekend.
