Bayliss and Kiyo Win at Donington

Some 45,000 spectators were estimated to have attended a rain-hit Donington Park, to watch the eleventh round of the 2008 WSB race series.

Troy Bayliss and Kiyonari shared two wins between them, as the weather added an extra challenge to the famous Donington curves.  Race 1 saw Haga leave some oil on the track which caused several riders to crash out, including Kiyo, Neukirchner and Checa. Bayliss powered away with Brit Superbike star Tom Sykes in pursuit and Max Biaggi.

Sykes and Biaggi eventually took 2nd and 3rd places, after Xaus fell off as the red flags came out to signal the rain had ended Race 1 early.

BSB racer Leon Haslam, who is a specialist at Donington, where Father Ron has a race school, finished 8th.  Fellow Brit James Ellison was 10th.

Race 2 saw Bayliss lose control of his bike and crash out of contention, whilst Ellison made an impression by grabbing 4th place, just behind veteran racer Troy Corser in 3rd.  Cal Crutchlow did his best to close down Kiyonari in the latter stages of Race 2, but the young BSB racer had to settle for 2nd place. Crutchlow dedicated his podium place to Craig Jones.

Bayliss leads the championship with 359 points, against Corser on 258 points.
