Yoshimura prepare for Monza debut
The Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team is packed up and ready for their World Superbikes bow at Monza next month after seeing their plans to race in Assen at the weekend scuppered by the European air travel disruption.
Yoshimura, the custom parts manufacturer, had planned to make the first of three wildcard appearances in World Superbikes, with the first being with Suzuki BSB rider Yukio Kagayama at Assen at the weekend.
But with the air travel restrictions in place due to the Icelandic ash cloud leaving the team stranded in Tokyo, the team will now prepare to enter next month’s Italian round in Monza.
“Since our Assen WSBK cancellation due to the airline chaos caused by volcanic activities in Iceland, the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team has been working to reschedule its debut and we will now participate at the next round in Monza,” confirmed Yoshimura Team Manager Yohei Kato. “Without the support from everyone, it could not have been done and we are glad to have this opportunity to challenge at this stage.”
Yakayama will ride at Monza on May 9th as well as at Magney-Cours on October 3rd. Japanese rider Daisaku Sakai will appear for the team at Imola on September 26.
