Yoshimura to race at Phillip Island

YJapanese tuning specialists Yoshimura will take part in a wildcard ride in the opening round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship.

Yoshimura, who enjoyed a single wildcard round at Imola last season, cancelling other planned appearances at Imola and Magny-Cours because of financial constraints, has agreed a single-race outing with Josh Waters for this season’s opener at Phillip Island.

The announcement follows a successful season of domestic racing for Yoshimura, despite the cancelled WSB appearances, and will also provide a WSB debut for the 22-year-old Waters.

Waters picked up the Australian Superbike Championship in his rookie season 2009 and he was also lined up to ride for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team in the United States last year before injuries sustained in a high-speed accident interrupted his 2010 season.
