Ethiopian architecture
Just arrived and am just leaving. Very relaxed city. Ethiopia must be one of the friendliest countries on earth.
They deserve so much but I have to go. This journey needs some speed and some communication and it is time to find that. Also, there is a tricky part from Moyale to Isiolo in northern Kenya. There have been reports of it being unsafe but recent reports suggest otherwise. The road is very bad but the rains ceased two weeks ago so it should be dry but rough. Will take two days to ride 500kms. Will start tomorrow to cross this desert region. Am a bit nervous but should be ok.
In the north and west of the country 120 000 babies will be dead within two months unless aid reaches them. 6 million people are starving. Elsewhere it’s OK but that must stick to the national psyche badly and with guilt, it does to me and I have to leave. There are people in this country with nothing. This is a concept we in the west and the Americas do not understand. we understand ‘not a lot’ but we don’t understand ‘nothing’.
I’ll be off-line for a few days while I try and cross this southern region. Bike OK, I’m fine. Thank you for all your messages of support on the site.
