3...2...1...GO! The Carole Nash Construct bike build gets underway
We arrived at the NEC late on Wednesday afternoon to set up the build area with half our Norwich workshop unceremoniously crammed in to the back of a Luton van and whisked halfway across the country.
The Carole Nash Construct build area blew us away! It looked fantastic, with chequer plate lining the back wall and floor and huge glass panels to protect the public from flying debris. This is going to be a hard week of graft, but we’re ready!
Thursday morning, 8.55am and the Carole Nash stand is buzzing with Press in anticipation of the build - this is the first time anyone has built a bike live at the NEC show! The build area is hot under the glare of countless spotlights, we’re feeling a bit like goldfish in a bowl; staring out at the assembled masses, who are waiting expectantly. The compare cracks up the mic and the flashguns start popping - now the heat is on we had better make this a good ‘un as some lucky Carole Nash customer is going to be winning this baby, get a motorcycle quote here. I do my best to give concise answers to the compares questions, all the time thinking have we forgotten anything?
The countdown begins and Terry and Snowy get set to start building…3…2…1…GO! Carole Nash Construct is go!
Straight away the team start setting up the jig for the frame, before carefully cutting and grinding off the stock swing-arm mounts in preparation for the hardtail conversion. Next the headstock and top tube are cut to enable us to gooseneck the frame for that old skool stretched out look - now we are in the zone, the glare of the press fades away and the build is on for real.
