Here We Go Again!

Here We Go Again!

It was weird doing once again what I’ve always been doing, launching a new project to ride around the world. When I first biked around the world on an Enfield in 1992 I never for the life of me thought I’d do it again.

Then in 1996 I planned to do it the following year on a Triumph. I did 20 000 miles+ in 31 days and got my first record. I was racing against time but also against 3 guys in a car. There was no motorbike record then, just the title ‘Circumnavigation of the World by Vehicle’ and overland, there was nothing faster than me. That was an odd concept to come to terms with and I guess I liked it.

Unbelievably I then rode around the world twice more, each time on an R1, leading clients on world tours, each time riding over 30 000 miles.

But this is my job and I needed to earn a living so I set up the concept ‘Journey Beyond Reason’ which meant exactly that and rode around the world on a 2005 YZF R1 in 19 days to claim back the record as ‘fastest man around the world’.

And yep, here we go once again with Carole Nash, around the world, not so fast this time but covering 55 000 miles or so and crossing 45 countries. The launch at the CN HQ in Altrincham was fab. I never thought I’d be doing this again but I am!
