The new season...
Hi Everybody,
It’s been two weeks since the test at Donington Park and I’ve not heard much from the team. I’ve mainly been motor crossing on a 250F Suzuki which has been keeping me fit and ready for the coming season. I then received a phone call from the team boss, the call no-one wants to hear which goes along the lines of, “Howie, I think its time now for you to find a ride, the money hasn’t come to start the season”. Gutted or what? Not only was I left without a ride, but the team who had worked so hard with so little help last year was left high and dry. At this point I didn’t know what to do as I thought I was all set up for this season. I just had to start all over again so I made some calls to previous sponsors but most of them were already tied up with other things.
A week later and the phone rang, it was Mark Rooney from Cresent Suzuki GB. I could not believe it, I was offered the opportunity to ride 2 Suzukis, backed by Cresent Suzuki themselves, I just had to fund the cost of running the bikes. Now there is always a ‘but’ around this time and mine was here when I told Mark that I didn’t have the money behind me to do anything at the moment.
I decided to put a cry for help on the BSB forum and asked if anyone could help give me the opportunity to race this season. After 3 days I received a phone call from a guy that is keen to help me and would I go to meet him. Obviously, I went along to meet him and it all worked out really well and I now have 2 new bikes and a winning package backed by Cresent Suzuki, all I have to do now is find some running fees, which with this winning package, should be reasonably easy to do. Now where have I heard that before…
