Donington; General Event Preview

Here’s some news on the various teams and riders involved in all the main classes at the upcoming Donington BSB meeting;

Bike Animal Honda

Leon Camier will not be riding for the remainder of the season due to a broken femur and fractured pelvis, which he sustained in a crash at Cadwell Park three weeks ago. Leon is expected to be out of action for around four months depending on further progress.

Leon Camier – Age 21, Home Town Bournemouth – Class: British Superbikes – Race Number 2 – Currently lying in seventh position in the Championship. Three Podiums to-date.

Hawk Colchester Kawasaki

James Haydon made his impressive debut for the Hawk Colchester Kawasaki team at Cadwell Park where he picked up two very strong top ten finishes, securing a ride with the team for the remainder of the season. Scott Smart has constantly been improving his results whilst Alex Camier is looking for a better run after problems at Cadwell. Dave Hallett underwent the operation on his forearms and is hoping to be back racing in the Superstock Cup at Brands Hatch.

Scott Smart – Age – 32 – Home Town Maidstone – Class: British Superbikes – Race Number 88 – Currently lying 13th in the Championship. Smart a former 250 British Champion and previous British Superbike race winner in 2004 and 2006 is looking forward gaining a strong result at a circuit which he has previously won at.

Alex Camier – Age -18. Home Town Bethersden – Class: British Superbikes – Race Number 9 –

Alex is younger brother to Leon and will be competing in the fierce Supersport Championship at Donington. A former two times British Grass Track Champion spending 2006 competing in the Japanese Superbike series for Moriwaki.

Centurion Racing

James ‘Westy’ Westmoreland has lifted the 2007 British Supersport Cup Championship and is looking forward to finishing the season with some strong results. Dan Cooper returns this weekend after missing Cadwell Park when he dislocated his shoulder at Croft.

James Westmoreland – Age 19 – Home Town Beverly (E Yorks) – Maxxis British Supersport Cup – Race Number 27 – Currently lying in 10th position in the Championship and leading the Supersport Cup

Dan Cooper – Age 20 – Home Town Stroud – Maxxis British Supersport – Race Number 20 – Currently lying in 15th in the Championship – www.daniel-cooper.co.uk

Riders Racing Ducati

Martin secured his best result of the season at Cadwell Park with a fifth place and is hoping for similar results at the closing rounds of the series.

Martin Jessopp – Age 21 – Home Town Yeovil – Maxxis British Supersport – Race Number 40 – Currently lying 12th in the Championship.

Buildbase Ducati

Brendan Roberts secured his first win this season in the dry at Cadwell Park, with teammate John Laverty making it a One-Two for the Buildbase Team. Roberts who only returned to the British scene at the Oulton Park round took victory in front of a huge crowd at Cadwell.

Competing in the National Superstock (Buildbase Ducati) and the European Superstocks (Ducati Xerox Junior Team) he is testing the strength of his badly injured wrist, which he sustained during testing at the start of the year. With two races at Donington he is hoping for more podium places.

Chris Jones
