HJC’s racy little number

HJC has gone from being a volume producer of good quality, everyday helmets to high tech manufacturer in a relatively short space of time. Here’s a couple of factoids worth noting; HJC have their own wind tunnel to test helmet noise, plus full crash test facilities to subject their products to tough safety standards.

HJC has been increasing its race involvement every year for the past decade and is now competing at the highest level in Moto GP with rookie, Ben Spies. The helmets used on the track have all been developments of standard road models, necessitating a degree of compromise. All that changes, right now, with the breakthrough R-PHA 10 model just launched to motorcycle riders everywhere.

The entire helmet is radically smaller, lighter and stronger than anything HJC has ever made. There are three shell sizes to minimise material content and advanced PIM construction produces exceptional rigidity and elasticity due to cross-linked, 3D, toughened epoxy twill blend. The helmet weighs just 1250g and comes complete with all the elements you need to hit the track running, like a centrally locking QR visor with dual tear-off, pinlock pins and insert provided. Plus there’s a tinted visor, with anti-rain treatment provided.

HJC haven’t forgotten rider comfort, with a fresh, anti-bacterial, wicking liner that is silk-like to the touch and fully removable. The overall fit is optimised for high speed use and provides a large aperture for good visibility, whether on the track, or trickling along the high street. HJC have used their wind tunnel to fine tune a ventilation system for high speed stability and excellent cooling.

The new HJC lid comes in five colour options, and six sizes: XS-XXL (54-64cm), with an RRP of £279.99 for plain black and £299.99 for graphics models. You get a spare visor included in the price, which is nice.
