Lorenzo biography from Haynes
Haynes publishing are doing well in the recession with sales of their famous manuals up and their general automotive book sales up 21%. This latest book is an interesting translation of the Jorge Lorenzo biography published back in 2008 by Spanish writer Ernest Riveras.
The book covers the crisis in confidence which affected Lorenzo when he was competing at 250cc level and had to split acrimoniously from his father, who was his manager at the time. Lorenzo also used the services of a hypnotist and agreed to live without his mobile phone during race weekends, so he could concentrate 100% on his racing.
The story of Lorenzo’s upbringing in Majorca, his struggle to win over race fans and develop as a person, as well as a motorcycle road racer, is all in this book. There’s an old saying that races are won, or lost, in the head and Lorenzo’s story so far, peppered with spectacular crashes and famous battles with Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and other Moto GP stars, shows how true that is.
Despite the cover looking like some kind of invitation to Strictly Come Dancing, insidebikes reckons this book should be an interesting read for any bike racing fan.
It costs £18.99 and is widely available at various online retailers.
