Schuberth C3 flip-front helmet 2010
The Schuberth C3 flip-front type helmet is claimed to be one of the quietest lids in its class. The flip-up type of helmet is usually noisier than a traditional full-face, but Schuberth claim 84dB at 60mph.
The C3 has been around since 2008 and has won awards in many helmet comparison tests in both online and paper motorcycle magazines since then.It is one of the lightest on the market, at 1450g, for the smaller shell size C3 model.
For 2010 there is an optional Rider Communication System, which has VOX voice control technology for mobile phone calls, wireless MP3 music and the facility to receive Sat Nav instructions via the helmet speakers. You can also hold a mobile conference call with three other riders whilst on the move, so you could rapidly give warning of a hazard ahead when on a group ride-out or touring trip for example.
The C3 2010 has a range of new colours, with hi-viz red and green on offer, alongside more usual designs like black, glossy white and furious green. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be annoyed to wear the green one.
The C3 also has a range caled Lady, which is unsurprisingly aimed at female riders. Women have slightly different head and face shapes to men, so the C3 Lady has extra padding inside as women have narrower cheek bones. The inner lining is also different, made from an anti-allergenic micro-fibre. Colours are Cranberry, Petrol and Pearl White.
Schuberth also have a new accident replacement scheme this year. If you have an accident and need another Schuberth, then you get 66% off the price of a replacement lid with the Schuberth Mobility Program. You have to register for the scheme when you buy the first Schuberth helmet by the way.
