The Eurolantic event in 1988 pitted the best US riders in action against British and european opposition, across six rounds. Haslam, Burnett and Trevor Nation battled against Doug Polen and Bubba Shobert. In 1991 the USA vs UK match race format was revived, with Freddie Spencer leading the US team. But Haslam led the British squad to an emphatic victory that year.
