Tyre Down bike carriage system

One of the problems with transporting motorcycles on a trailer, or inside a van, is that using ratchet type tie-downs compresses the suspension, thus placing a strain on fork and shock seals. Also tie downs can sometimes leave marks, scratches on expensive plastic parts or even tear the saddle. Nasty.

This ingenious solution from V2 Mal in Australia secures the bike using the rear wheel only, so no compression of the suspension, and no threading straps and ratchets across fuel tanks, headstocks, bodywork, saddles etc.

Two heavy duty metal plates, each with a friction pad, grip the rear tyre and these are attached to Ancra webbed straps, rated to take 400Kgs of load. The entire bike is rock solid during transit and the photo shows how easy and safe it is to carry two off-road bikes.

Keep your MX, enduro or trials bike even more secure by insuring it at events with Carole Nash Insurance. Visit www.carolenash.com for more details on off-road cover.

The V2 Mal bike secure carriage system costs just £45 and there’s a demo video you can watch at; www.V2mal.com/tyredown/product/57
