16th Annual Ace Cafe Reunion
The 16th Annual Ace Cafe Reunion takes place on 11th/12th/13th September in what is one of the highlights in the European motorcycle community calendar.
Bikers from across the UK and Europe will descend on the famous Ace Cafe on London’s North Circular for this year’s reunion, which will celebrate a number of landmarks the 50th anniversary of the legendary and world famous 59 CLUB.
Commencing on Friday night, the Cafe will welcome the arrival of ‘The Continental Run’ that brings riders from Germany, Holland, Belgium and France through to London for the weekend.
Entertainment will be provided in the form of live music from DJ Tracey Dick and German band The Twang Bangers.
Breakfast will be provided from 7:00am on Saturday morning ahead of the Cafe Racers and Rockers Ride-out at 10:30am, which will attend the church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, Central London for a very special celebration service. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the 59 Club by the late Father Bill Shergold, club Chairman Father Scott Anderson will give a thanksgiving and blessing of the bikes service together with the club’s leaders and volunteer helpers.
The ride will return to the Ace for 2.30pm for the 2nd annual Cafe Racer Review, with awards and prizes for ‘Best Bike’ and runners-up. The awards will be presented by special guests including Mike Cook, Dave Degens, Oliver Tobias, Derek Harris, Colin Campbell and members of the 59 Club management team.
Also being celebrated is the 50th anniversary of the Triumph Bonneville and Metisse, with prizes for the best examples of the respective models, courtesy of Gerry Lisi of METISSE, Triumph and Dave Lilley of the West London Triumph dealership Jack Lilley Ltd, who are also celebrating their 50 years in business
The feisty London Rockin Rollers with their 8-wheeled thrills n’ spills will be on hand to help raise funds for the 59 Club, a registered church charity, in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Bands performing on Saturday include The Debonaires, Slick, Western Electric and French band Ervin Travis.
On Sunday, it’s time for the Brighton Burn Up. Departing the Ace at 10:30am, the route to the south coast will travel west on the A406 North Circular Road, to Hanger Lane, then the A40 west to the M25 south bound, M23 to Brighton and the A23 to the seafront road at Madeira Drive.
For the first time at Brighton, the scooter and rider who best represents 1964 will receive an award courtesy of Dr Martens (to include a rare opportunity to visit the original factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire to assemble their very own pair of Dr Marten’s!), and Alpha Industries, manufacturers of the iconic MA-1 and CWU-15 jackets
Live music and unique stunt shows from performers around the world will keep the crowds entertained in what is sure to be an action-packed and memorable weekend.
