Location; Manchester Central (formerly G-MEX)
Dates: January 9th-11th 2009

Regional shows might not have the glitz of the big NEC event, but if you live locally, the costs are relatively low and you always have the chance of picking up a discounted bit of biking kit these days.

The Manchester Show, which opens in the New Year in 2009, is one of the biggest regional bike shows in the UK. Expect to see stunt action, new bikes, classics, choppers, scooters, plus bike training rides on offer.

Stars of the show are the new 2009 motorcycles, with the latest models on show from local dealers, so if you’re shopping for a new Honda Fireblade, Yamaha R1 or just a Suzuki Address scooter, you’ll find plenty of chrome-plated temptation at the show. Don’t forget to shop for a top value helmet, boots, clothing or accessories too.

There are stunt shows outdoors and indoors at Manchester with the awesome Extreme Globe Riders arriving all the way from Finland. Heidi and Mikko ride their bikes inside a steel globe, at speeds of up to 70mph, travelling upside down and criss-crossing each other - you won’t believe it can be done…until you see it!

The Xtreme Trials show is great family entertainment with uncanny balancing skills and a touch of comedy, all on offer from Dan Clark and Martin Crosswaite. These two maestros of throttle control can make a trials bike jump several feet into the air, and their wheelie skills are legendary.

Riders who want to improve their skills can take advantage of the free assessments by Stockport Riding School, who will be just outside the Manchester Central Hall. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been riding bikes, there’s always something you can gain from a ride-out like this, and it could save your life one day.

More and more riders are looking to escape the rainy British weather and what better way to plan a tour of Eastern Europe, New Zealand or the USA, than visiting the Touring and Leisure Zone at the show? A selection of bike tours specialists will be on hand to answer those tricky questions on visas, driving rules, tips on what to carry, preparing your motorcycle etc. Your trip of a lifetime could start right here in Manchester.

From new 2009 bikes, Classic Corner, commuter scooters and wild choppers, lowriders and trikes in the Custom & Extreme Performance Zone - Manchester’s Motorcycle Show really does have it all in 2009.

The show opens Friday 9th January at 11.30 am, and at 10.00am on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January 2009. The show closes at 5.30pm Friday and 5.00pm Sat/Sun.

Adult admission on the door is £12, with senior citizens and children under 16s admission £6. Advance booking discounts are available, please call 0844 338 8000.
