Manchester Show this weekend

Start up your motors and rev your engines as the 2010 National Motorcycle Show will be back at Manchester Central (formerly GMEX) this Easter weekend – Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th April. The annual show, traditionally held in January, was cancelled this year due to the severe weather conditions experienced across the country. Since then organisers have been working tirelessly to re-schedule the show.

Commenting, show director, Howard Cartledge, said; “It was extremely disappointing to have to cancel the January show. We were determined to give Manchester a bike show so we are really excited about the April event. The feedback we have had from visitors and exhibitors has been really positive so we are looking forward to a great weekend!”

Bringing live action to the National Motorcycle Show is former world number 3 and British and Italian Motorbike Trials Champion Steve Colley, and the Vertical Trix stunt team so there will be thrills galore as usual at the well-loved show. Unlike many of the major bike shows, all stunt shows are included in the ticket price – there are no extra charges.

The Show’s main exhibitors have also confirmed for the April show with Williams BMW Motorcycles, Ducati, Aprilia, Triumph and Honda all having booked. Williams BMW will be bringing their amazing 2010 BMW S1000RR superbike. This impressive machine will making its TT race debut in June and is sure to be one of the star attractions during the 2-day show.

From new 2010 bikes, classic corner, commuter scooters and wild choppers, lowriders and trikes in the Custom & Extreme Performance Zone, there will be an abundance of chrome plated temptation on display throughout the exhibition hall at Manchester Central. For all the adventure biking fans Gordon G May will be at the show talking about his new book – Overland to India – which tells the tale of his epic 8,400 mile motorcycle journey from Manchester to South India on a classic 1953 Royal Enfield.  He will be doing book signings and will have his 500cc Enfield Bullet motorcycle at the show.

In addition to the activity inside, riders who want to improve their skills can take advantage of the free assessments by Stockport School of Motorcycling who will be located just outside Central Hall. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been riding, there’s always something you can gain from a ride-out like this, and it could save your life one day. Throughout the 2-day show the National Motorcycle Show will be supporting the Harley Slack fund. There will be fundraising opportunities that all the visitors can get involved with, including a Easter treasure hunt for children. For further information about the Harley Slack fund visit www.harleyslack.org.

Show opens on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 April at 10am and closes at 5pm. Adult admission on the door is £12, with seniors and children under 16 admission £6. Children under 5 go free.
