Andrews aiming for Brands Hatch success
Simon Andrews is hoping to have a successful eighth round of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch next weekend, by giving his Kawasaki team something to celebrate on the 25th anniversary of the Ninja.
Despite suffering with an injured wrist, Andrews is determined to bring triumph to the manufacturer, claiming he rides better whilst injured.
The Kawasaki rider has undergone surgery in between BSB rounds, in which a screw has been inserted into his wrist to help speed up recovery time, and he is now offering a warning to his rivals that he is surprisingly stronger whilst not at full fitness.
Although Andrews missed out on a potential victory at Mallory Park, following an incident at the Hairpin, he is very much fired up for the event at the Kent-based circuit on the 7/8/9 August, with hopes of leading his MSS Colchester Kawasaki team to a podium placed finish.
“I am really ready for next weekend, the full GP circuit is great and I can’t wait to really stretch the legs on the Kawasaki. I will be back on the number one bike again after it had to miss race two at Mallory Park after the crash and I know it will be good there. Mallory Park is done now so I just want to get back next weekend and put the Kawasaki up there again.” He told the BSB website.
“I had the operation on my wrist just after Mallory Park, I went straight to Belgium on the Sunday night and they have put a screw in that should draw the two bones together. It feels ok and it seems to be on the mend, it is just a case of wait and see with how long it will take to heal completely. I think I ride better injured anyway! It seems to fire me up and make me more aggressive, so I am not worried.
“Brands Hatch is going to be a big event for Kawasaki as it is the 25th anniversary of the Ninja, so we want to put on a good show.”
