Biaggi scores Superpole at Brno

Max Biaggi scored his second World Superbike Superpole victory of the season today, as the grid headed to Brno in the Czech Repulic.

As the Italian Aprilia Alitalia rider stakes his claim to the 2011 championship title, a Superpole win was just what he ordered. In a bid to retain his crown, he challenged his rivals with a lap time of 1m58.580 seconds. Marco Melandri secured the second fastest time to give him second place on the grid for tomorrow’s first race, whilst championship leader Carlos Checa will start third. Checa will be eager to extend his current advantage in the standings in tomorrow’s double header. Eugene Laverty will complete the front row in fourth place.

Jakub Smrz will head the second row of the grid in fifth place, while Michel Fabrizio scored a strong sixth place. Leon Camier fired his Aprilia Alitalia machine to seventh quickest in the final Superpole outing, with fellow Brit Tom Sykes eighth. The two remaining positions in the top ten were awarded to Ayrton Badovini and Sylvain Guintoli in ninth and tenth, respectively.
