Hill on top at Cadwell

Tommy Hill scored another pole position at Cadwell Park this afternoon, ahead of tomorrow’s double header, as he strives to strengthen his championship charge.

As the early stages of the Swan Combi Roll for Pole session took place, a fierce battle unravalled, as championship contenders Hill and Josh Brookes duelled for the top spot. Hill eventually won pole after nudging Brookes aside from provisional pole position, however chief rival Brookes will line up right alongside, as the pair do battle in the first of tomorrow’s two races.

Completing the front row of the grid, Brookes HM Plant Honda teammate Ryuichi Kiyonari will start third, as the trio wait to see who will triumph on the narrow track.

Behind, Michael Rutter set the fourth fastest time, with Simon Andrews and Michael Laverty ready to line up alongside. James Ellison set the seventh fastest time, and the quickest time of the two Swan Honda machines, while Alastair Seeley will line up eighth, Tommy Bridewell ninth and Yukio Kagayama tenth. Stuart Easton narrowly missed out on a top ten starting spot, qualifying thirteenth.

In the Evo Class, the Aprilias of Hudson Kennaugh and Chris Burns have been excluded for this event as a result of technical eligibility issues.

Commenting on his pole position, Hill told the official BSB website: “”It is important to be on the front row here and that sets us up well for tomorrow and fighting for the podiums and those credits. The last time I had a race win was at Thruxton which we need to change, but I have been happy this weekend, especially as we have now found a good wet setting this morning. We need the podiums before the Showdown; I messed it up here last time but tomorrow I want to get it right.”
